Two teenagers charged with murder after 19-year-old shot dead on Coventry street
Abdul Wahid Xasan was shot in the back twice on Friday evening, police say
Two teenagers have been charged with murder after a 19-year-old man was shot dead in the street.
Abdul Wahid Xasan died after he suffered two gunshot wounds to his back just after 2:30pm on Friday.
Mr Xasan, from Foleshill, Coventry, was shot as he walked along Harnall Lane in the Stoke area of the city - suffering “catastrophic” internal injuries.
Carren Monga, 19, from Longford, Coventry, and a 15-year-old boy, from Stoke, Coventry - who cannot be named for legal reasons - were both arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning following his death, West Midlands Police said.
Both suspects were charged with murder on Monday evening and are set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Detective chief inspector Scott Griffiths, from the force's homicide unit, said he is appealing for anyone who saw a black Volkswagen Golf R with silver wing mirrors and five spoke alloys that was being driven erratically on Friday afternoon to come forward.
He said: “We've made swift progress in our investigation and it's led us to charge two suspects with murder.
“But our investigation continues at pace and we still really want to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to us or anyone who has information.
“I particularly want to hear from anyone who saw the black VW Golf believed to have been used in the shooting and which was found burned out in London Road. If anyone saw it or has dashcam footage of the car I need to speak to them.”
