Sixteen-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder after Zdenek Makar died following a row at a takeaway in Poplar
A 16-year-old boy is among three people arrested over the death of a Czech man following a row in a fried chicken shop.
Zdenek Makar, 31, was pronounced dead in the street near All Saints DLR station in Poplar, east London, late on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police said.
The boy has been arrested, along with two men aged 19 and 29, on suspicion of murder and taken to separate east London police stations for questioning.
Officers believe he was involved in an argument between a group of men inside Perfect Fried Chicken in East India Dock Road before being followed down the street and attacked.
Mr Zdenek was claimed to have become embroiled in a “silly exchange of words”, an employee at the takeaway told a reporter at the East London Advertiser.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Detectives continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area who witnessed the events prior to attack or the incident itself. They retain an open mind as to the motive for the attack.”
A post-mortem examination on Friday revealed Mr Makar died from head injuries. His next of kin has been informed.
Detectives continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area who witnessed the events prior to attack or the incident itself.
A police statement said officers retain “an open mind” as to the motive for the attack.
