Teenage boy stabbed to death in Woodford, east London, during birthday party
The 16-year-old was rushed to the hospital but did not survive
A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed to death at a birthday party in east London.
The teenager was taken to hospital by ambulance after the attack on Saturday evening at Ashton Playing Fields, in Woodford, but he was pronounced dead in hospital.
Met Police believe the teenager was at a friend’s birthday party at a social club located in the playing fields when a confrontation broke out between him and four other male youths.
One of the youths reportedly stabbed the victim, before all four ran off towards Chigwell Road.
Other party-goers came to the victim’s aid before police and paramedics arrived.
A post-mortem is due to take place on Monday. It is thought to be London's first fatal stabbing of 2016.
Detective Chief Inspector Hughes said in a statement: “The victim’s family are naturally devastated and in shock by what has happened and we need the help of those at the party that night to progess our investigation.”
No arrests have been made at this stage.
