A woman aged in her 20s has been stabbed to death in south London.

The victim was found injured at a home in Clapham Road, Stockwell, after police were called to reports of a disturbance on Sunday night.

She was pronounced dead shortly after emergency services attended at around 9.10pm. Police have not yet identified her and are trying to inform next of kin.

A 27-year-old man who is known to the victim was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

The Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation.

"Enquiries into the circumstances continue by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime," the force said in a statement.

"A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Tuesday, 29 December).

The arrested man was still being held in custody on Monday afternoon.
