Sixth man in court over £40m Graff jewel robbery

A sixth man charged with involvement in Britain's biggest jewellery robbery was remanded in custody today.

Benjamine McFarlane, 21, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court in south west London accused of conspiracy to commit robbery.

McFarlane, of Paveley Street, St John's Wood, north west London, was remanded in custody until a hearing at Kingston Crown Court on 23 October, Scotland Yard said after the hearing.

It is alleged that he and five other men stole jewellery worth £40m from Graff jewellers in Mayfair, central London, on 6 August.

Courtney Lawrence, 30, of Ladbroke Grove, central London; Gregory Jones, 29, of Elgin Avenue, Harrow, north west London; Jamal Mogg, 42, of Westby Road, Bournemouth; Solomun Beyene, 24, of Lilestone Street, St John's Wood; and Craig Calderwood, 26, of no fixed abode, appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday.

They are all accused of conspiracy to commit robbery. Beyene and Calderwood also face one firearms charge each.

The five men were remanded in custody and will next appear at the same court on 23 October.
