Six guilty of killing So Solid Crew fan
Six men were jailed for life yesterday for the murder of a young DJ in a gang fight outside a concert by the garage act So Solid Crew. Marcus Hall, 18, from Peckham, south London, had his face slashed by one killer after he was stabbed nine times and beaten with a baseball bat and a hammer.
The attack in March last year at a nightclub in Luton, Bedfordshire, was captured by security cameras and a student's video camera.
A jury at the Old Bailey convicted Marlon Mason, 23; Philip Ryan, 20; Errol O'Flaherty, 25; Mitchell Toussaint, 21; Leon Licorish, 19; and Kimani Vassell, 20. Judge Brian Barker said: "The victim died a sudden, brutal and totally unnecessary death."
Mr Hall, known to his killers and armed with the bat, had became involved in the fight as crowds left the concert. Toussaint and Ryan, from Luton, used the knife and claw hammer. Licorish, of Shepherd's Bush, west London, then slashed the collapsed DJ's face before they ran away.
