Rushden stabbing: Boy, 13, and man arrested on suspicion of woman’s murder
Detectives also questioning second man over attempted murder of adult suspect
A 13-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Northamptonshire.
Detectives have also arrested another man, also 27, on suspicion of the attempted murder of the adult suspect.
The woman, aged 25, was knifed in the street in Rushden on Saturday night. Paramedics were called but were unable to save her.
The murder suspect is under police supervision in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The boy and second adult are both in police custody.
Officers have stepped up patrols in the area of the attack.
Detective Inspector Pete Long, of Northamptonshire Police, said: “This was an extremely tragic incident in which a young woman has lost her life, and I want to reassure people that we are doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.
“A large team of detectives have been working on this case around the clock and a number of lines of enquiry are being pursued as part of this fast-paced investigation.
“This incident has really shocked the Rushden community, many of whom were on the scene last night, and I would ask anyone who was there and saw what happened to please come forward with your information.”
He appealed for anyone with information or any dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact detectives.
