RSPCA appeal for information on Darlington man who kicked dog 'like it was a football' - video
The dog was kicked after it refused to follow its owner
The RSPCA is appealing for information on a man who was filmed kicking his dog “like a football” after it refused to follow him down a road in Darlington.
In the CCTV footage taken just outside a club in the North East town, the man is seen repeatedly attempting to drag the dog alongside him.
Witnesses said that they saw the man strike the dog “five or six times”.
The RSPCA were contacted by a member of the public who saw the incident and have now sent out an appeal for information on the incident.
RSPCA inspector Clare Wilson said: “The footage shows the man going to walk off, but the dog doesn’t appear to want to follow him. He tries to drag the dog, but then turns and kicks the poor animal right under the chin, just like you’d kick a football.
“A witness said they heard a crunching noise as he beat the dog.
“It is an absolutely shocking incident and I’m urging anyone who knows anything about who the man or the dog are to call me as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is urged to leave a message for inspector Clare Wilson by calling the RSPCA's appeals line on 0300 123 8018.
