Ronnie Barker's fugitive son Adam hands himself in and appears in court on child pornography charges
The fugitive son of the late Ronnie Barker is in custody facing a child pornography trial tonight after eight years on the run.
Adam Barker, 44, the youngest son of the actor and comedian who died in 2005, appeared in court accused of five counts of making indecent images of children after handing himself in at a west London police station. Two are in the most serious category.
Mr Barker was given bail after he was arrested in June 2003 when a computer seized from his home allegedly contained thousands of indecent images of children.
He did not answer bail the following year and was believed to have gone abroad. He did not return for either the funeral of his father in 2005 or that of his mother last year.
Mr Barker's acting credits include appearances as a detective constable in episodes of the police drama Wycliffe over two years. He also featured in the BBC’s hospital drama Casualty and Monarch of the Glen. Mr Barker, the younger of two brothers, had a minor role as a sonar operation in the Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997. His sister was also an actress.
Mr Barker, who has no fixed address, appeared in court today wearing glasses and a pale shirt over a white t-shirt.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for a committal hearing on August 21.
