The father of a woman shot dead in her home was arrested yesterday in connection with her murder, bringing a major police hunt to an end.

The father of a woman shot dead in her home was arrested yesterday in connection with her murder, bringing a major police hunt to an end.

Terry Rodgers, 55, has been hunted by police since he was named as prime suspect after the death of his daughter, Chanel Taylor, two weeks ago.

Mrs Taylor, a 23-year-old hairdresser, was shot dead in her home in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, seven weeks after her father had given her away at her wedding.

Yesterday, after hundreds of police scoured dense woodland in Nottinghamshire, the search came to a close. "Terence Rodgers was arrested at just after 5.30pm," said Detective Chief Inspector Paul Cottee, of Nottinghamshire Police.

The body of Mrs Taylor was discovered on 30 July by her husband Len and a gun was found by forensic teams six days after the shooting. However, there had been no sighting of Mr Rodgers since he was seen in Hucknall the day after the wedding.

The manhunt led to the discovery of another murder suspect, Robert Boyer, in a makeshift den over the weekend. Mr Boyer, a former miner, was detained in connection with the murder of Keith Frogson, 62, in Annesley Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, last month.
