Putney Bridge jogger: Met Police chasing number of 'viable leads' after man knocks woman in front of London bus

Runner was confronted by victim when he passed back along the bridge 15 minutes later, it emerges

Police trying to track down the Putney Bridge jogger who appeared to push a woman into the path of an oncoming bus say they are following a number of "viable leads".

The Metropolitan Police said it had had a huge response to its appeal after it released shocking video of the man knocking into a 33-year-old woman.

The update came as it was revealed the man jogged back across the bridge some 15 minutes after the incident, where the woman confronted him — but he ignored her.

No arrests have yet been made, the Met said on Thursday morning, and officers asked anyone with information to call Putney safer neighbourhood team on 020 8785 8874, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

CCTV footage from another bus shows the man, wearing navy shorts and a grey T-shirt, barging into the woman as she walked to Putney Bridge tube station on 5 May, at about 7.40am, knocking her down.

The bus driver's quick reactions have been credited with saving the woman's life. The video shows the double-decker swerving around her.

The bus stopped and a number of passengers alighted to help the woman, who suffered minor injuries.

Officers believe the jogger is from Fulham, Mail Online reported.
