£100,000 'Glastonbury drugs' seized

Two men were being questioned today after police stopped a vehicle on the way to the Glastonbury Festival carrying drugs with a street value of more than £100,000.

Over 100,000 Class C tablets were seized after police stopped the vehicle as it drove south on the M5 near Dursley, Gloucestershire, yesterday.

It is one of the largest finds of its kind by Gloucestershire Police.

Avon and Somerset Police, supported by Gloucestershire Police, were carrying out a clampdown operation at the time.

A 23-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both from Bude in Cornwall, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned with the supply of drugs.

Police said they were believed to on their way to Glastonbury Festival.

Sergeant Richard Knapp said: "We hope this operation and subsequent arrests show that Gloucestershire Police are dedicated to working with their colleagues in other areas to tackle drugs offences and keep our communities safe from harm."
