PC charged with theft

A police officer has been charged with theft, a force said today.

Pc Julian Lovegrove, of Surrey Police, is accused of stealing £75 in cash.

The 32-year-old, who is based at Esher police station, has been suspended from duty while the matter is investigated.

Lovegrove was charged with one count of theft of found property last night, and was bailed to appear at Aldershot Magistrates' Court on February 4.

Surrey Police would not reveal any further details of the offence.
