Friday 18 November 2011 01:00 GMT

A pantomime actor has been dropped from a production of Sleeping Beauty after being charged with the attempted murder of a co-star.

Cameron McNair, 43, is also accused of assaulting the 39-year-old woman in Dunlop, East Ayrshire, on Saturday.

Mr McNair was to play Berty Ponsimby Smyth in the Dunlop Players' Christmas panto. He made no plea at Kilmarnock Sheriff court and was bailed. The unnamed woman is still in the panto.
