Nine people are expected to go on trial today after an airport protest disrupted flights.

The nine were arrested after action by members of the protest group Plane Stupid led to flights to and from Aberdeen Airport being delayed in March last year.

Of the 350 flights scheduled for the day, 10 were disrupted during a protest at the airport.

When the nine first appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in March last year seven of the accused faced a charge of breach of the peace and vandalism and another two were charged with two counts of vandalism and breach of the peace.

Supporters of the nine are also expected to meet outside Aberdeen Sheriff Court where the trial is expected to start this morning.
