Murder probe as girl aged 17 found dead in car
A murder investigation was under way today after a teenage girl was found dead in a car stopped by police.
Police believe the victim is 17-year-old Chanelle Sasha Jones who was reported missing yesterday, although the body has not been officially identified.
A stinger device was used to stop a Ford Fiesta on the A487 coast road near Aberaeron, Ceredigion, west Wales, last night after police followed it.
The body, believed to be that of Chanelle, from nearby Cardigan, was found inside. A post-mortem examination has not been carried out yet.
Dyfed-Powys Police said a man arrested in connection with the death was tonight in hospital.
In a statement released through police, Chanelle's mother Jayne said: "My beautiful daughter Chanelle Sasha has been taken from us due to a cruel set of circumstances.
"She has been through so much in her short life and I was, and we all are, so proud of how she was turning her life around for the better and she now had so many ambitions.
"She was my lovely daughter who will be so sadly missed by her sister and two brothers and all her family and her boyfriend Brian.
"We all love you and miss you darling babe."
Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen the teenager between 3.30am and 10.15pm yesterday.
They also appealed to anyone who saw a beige 2003-plate Fiesta on the Haverfordwest to St Clears road, or in the Lampeter, Poppit Sands and Gwbert-on-Sea areas yesterday.
The Fiesta hit a camper van parked in a lay-by when it was pulled over, leaving the people inside with minor injuries.
A stretch of the road was closed today while it was examined by forensic experts.
