Murder inquiry launched after man's body found in Surrey stream

A murder inquiry has been launched after a man’s body was found half-naked in a stream in Surrey woodlands. The body was reportedly naked from the waist down.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the discovery and is being questioned in custody. He was arrested at 4:20am near the Goodwyns estate in Surrey.

The body has not yet been identified.

Police are continuing to search in the nearby area and are conducting house-to-house inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Rymarz said: “At this stage we are still trying to identify the deceased man. The team and I are focused on a number of inquiries to try and establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and will be carrying out various searches in the area, as well as making house to house inquiries.”
