Mother told of family's deaths

A critically ill woman who was injured in an arson attack on her home has been told that her two children and husband died in the blaze.

Police are treating the three deaths as murder. Eight-year-old Bridget Sharkey and her brother Thomas, 21, died at their home in Helensburgh in the early hours of 24 July. Their father, Thomas Sharkey, 55, died in hospital on 30 July. His wife, Angela Sharkey, 46, is still in a critical condition in Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

She was told of their deaths yesterday. Around 50 officers from Strathclyde Police are working on the case.
