Mother charged with murder of two children

The mother of two young children was today charged with their murders, Scotland Yard said.

The 29-year-old has been charged with the murder of her three-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son whose bodies were found at an address in Hackney, east London, yesterday.

She will appear before Thames Magistrates Court tomorrow, police said.

Officers were called to the house in Pembury Close at about 9.25am yesterday after they received reports of the deaths of two children.

An ambulance crew also rushed to the address but the children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe they know the identity of the children but are waiting for formal identification and to inform next of kin before releasing their names.

They are expected to be named later today.

Post-mortem examinations will take place at Poplar mortuary over the next two days.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murders.
