Woman and baby threatened with hammer in Manchester carjacking
'We are determined to find the coward who is responsible for this', police say
A mother and her 11-month-old baby were threatened by a man with hammer during a carjacking, police in Manchester said.
The man approached the woman as she sat in her Nissan Qashqai in Moston, the man brandished the tool at the woman and forced her to hand over her keys.
After she pleaded with him, she was allowed to take her son out of the back seat, before the man drove off.
He then drove off in the vehicle.
Police described the suspect as a white male, in his late teens or early twenties, around 6ft tall and wearing a grey tracksuit.
“This was a frightening experience for the woman, and she is deeply distressed by what happened to her and her baby,” police constable Jack Ginger said.
“It is unacceptable that a woman and a young child should be put through such an ordeal, and we are determined to find the coward who is responsible for this.
