Police are appealing for information after a 45-year-old man was left hospitalised after he was stabbed in the neck near a club in Hackney.

Officers responded to a call made at 4:24 am on Monday morning reporting information about an injured man on Lower Clapton Road, east London.

Arrival officers found the man had been slashed across the neck.

The man has been taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

Hackney Police believe the man was attacked in the street close to the 77 Social Club on Dalston Lane, and detectives have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Parts of Lower Clapton Road and Dalston Lane had temporarily been shut down following the incident, but police said the roads have since been re-opened.

Officers from Hackney CID are investigating the case. No arrests have yet been made.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Hackney Police by dialling 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
