Man remanded over woman's murder

A man has been remanded in custody over the death of a mother-of-one who was found stabbed at her home.

Andrew Kemp, 48, of Vale Road, Colwick, appeared before magistrates in Nottingham charged with the murder of 24-year-old Leighann Wightman.

Ms Wightman, who had a five-year-old daughter, was found dead after officers were called to a house in Norman Street in Netherfield, Nottingham, at about 5.30am on Saturday.

Kemp was remanded into custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday.
