Police searching for man who drop-kicked tent with two homeless people inside
Police searching for three men release CCTV footage of incident
Police are looking for three men after one was caught on CCTV launching himself feet-first into homeless people sleeping in a tent.
The footage, made public by Humberside Police, shows a man taking a run up before jumping into a tent erected in a doorway in Hull city centre.
Two other men can be seen watching on – one of whom is filming the attack on his mobile phone.
After the perpetrator rolls over and gets up, the friends are seen laughing together as they walk away.
The homeless men, who police said were unharmed, move but are not seen getting out of the tent.
The incident occurred on 30 November at around 12.30am while the men were walking down Whitefriargate towards Silver Street.
It comes amid increasing anger at the state of homelessness in the UK.
According to a recent study, more than one homeless person died every day in the UK during the 12 months up to June.
Experts described the statistic as a “national scandal” and placed the blame on welfare cuts, high rents and a lack of social housing.
Anyone who can help police identify the three men should call police on 101, quoting reference 16/124920/18.
