Man jailed for 30 months for sex assault on four-year-old boy in supermarket toilet
A man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years for sexually assaulting a four-year-old boy in a supermarket toilet.
Christopher Morrison, 20, admitted attacking the child at an Asda store in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on September 18 last year.
Morrison, from Elderslie, Renfrewshire, appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh to be sentenced for what judge Lord Bracadale described as "a very disturbing offence" and an "extremely unusual case".
A victim impact statement from the boy's mother showed that the assault affected the child, Lord Bracadale said.
"It is clear from the risk assessment report that there is a serious background here," he told Morrison.
"The risk can only be addressed and managed if you participate in custody and after you are released.
"I intend to impose an extended sentence made up of a custodial part followed by an extended period during which you will be on licence."
Morrison was sentenced to two years and six months in custody, followed by a three-and-a-half-year period on licence.
