A man was arrested today following an attempted mortar bomb attack on Keady police station earlier this year.

The 39-year-old was detained in Lurgan, Co Armagh, in connection with the February alert.

In an unrelated incident, people living close to the scene of an ongoing security alert in south Armagh spent the night away from their homes.

Six houses were evacuated after a beer keg with wires was found by a member of the public on the Castleblaney Road, Keady, yesterday.

Army bomb experts and police remained at the scene overnight and a five-mile stretch of road was cordoned off.
