Man charged after threatening to bomb MP’s house over Syria
Craig Wallace, 23, was arrested at an address in north London and charged with malicious communications
A man has been arrested and charged with malicious communications following a police investigation into Facebook messages sent to an MP.
23-year-old Craig Wallace, who also goes by the name Muhammad Mujahid Islam, was arrested at an address in Willesden Green, north London on Saturday 5 December, after an investgation into messages sent on Thursday 3 December.
His arrest came a few days after Labour MP for Rochdale Simon Danczuk reported an alleged death threat to police, which he received after voting in favour of UK air strikes in Syria.
Neil Coyle, the newly-elected Labour MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark also told police he received a death threat on Twitter after voting for strikes.
Wallace is now in custody, and will appear at Hendon Magistrates' Court on Monday 7 December.
He has been charged in respect of messages allegedly sent to one MP only.
Police did not name the MP said to have received the messages, but confirmed they did not represent a constituency in London.
