Madison Horne: Man charged with murder of two-year-old in Fife
Unnamed 26-year-old to appear in Dunfermelin Sheriff Court today
A man has been charged with murder following the death of a two-year-old girl in Scotland, police have confirmed.
An unnamed 26-year-old man has been taken into custody by police and will appear in front of the Dunfermline Sheriff Court today.
Madison Horne died on Sunday evening in Kircaldy’s Victoria Hospital.
She was rushed to the hospital, after police were called to the home of the toddler in Kelty, Fife.
Doctors were unable to revive the child and she was later pronounced dead.
Police said that the two-year-old had died under “suspicious circumstances”, and neighbours had reported shouting at the flat before the police arrived.
After the death was announced, tributes flooded in for the dead child across social media sites.
Madison Horne’s mother Anne-Marie White, 21, posted a Facebook message saying that her child was 'far too young' to die.
Madison’s cousin Courtney Munro also posted a message on the social media site, saying: 'RIP to my little cousin Madison, sleep tight angel.'
Local MP and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and local MSP Alex Rowley, released a joint statement that said: 'Kelty is a strong close knit community and there is universal sadness at the tragic death of a two-year-old girl last night.
'We know that the whole community will come together to mourn the loss of a child who has been taken from us at such a young age and we support those closest to her.”
Teddies, soft toys and pink roses were laid outside the property, alongside letters of condolence.
One message, next to An Upsy Daisy doll, read: “Heaven has gained another angel. Rest in peace little one.”
