The man caught on video pushing a cyclist off her bicycle on a busy London street has handed himself into the authorities.

The shocking video, which went viral within hours of publication, shows a woman cyclist being chased and thrown off her bike as she makes her way down an East London road.

According to a Police statement, at lunchtime on Tuesday 25 August, a 33-year-old man attended Bethnal Green police station and identified himself as the man shown in a video released by the Met of an attack on a female cyclist in Whitechapel.

The cyclist turned onto Sidney Street from Whitechapel Road, passing a man who was about to cross the road. She tells him “please do not try to knock me off”; to which the man, believed to be in his forties, replies “shut up”.

Seconds later, he reappears, shouting “You wanna put your finger up at me? You f*****g mug?” subsequently pushing the cyclist to the floor.

In an appeal, the Met Police stated the cyclist managed to get out of the road and did not require any medical treatment, but was left "very upset".yup

A spokesperson for the Met told The Independent that the man was not arrested, but he “will be interviewed by officers from Tower Hamlets in due course.”
