Man, 61, accused of village murder

A 61-year-old man will go on trial today accused of murdering a taxi driver.

Colin Cheetham is accused of shooting dead 43-year-old Stuart Ludlam and dumping his body in the back of the taxi driver's own silver Ford Focus estate on September 17 last year.

The car was found parked on a road leading up to Cromford railway station, just south of the picturesque village of Matlock, in Derbyshire.

Cheetham, of Ripley, Derbyshire, will go on trial today at Nottingham Crown Court accused of murdering the father-of-three from nearby Darley Dale.
