A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his parents after the pair were stabbed to death at a southwest London home.

Akbar Arezo, 64, and Layla Arezo, 74, were found by Metropolitan police officers on Friday morning on Redfern Avenue in Whitton, southwest London.

Mustafa Arezo, also of Redfern Avenue, has since been charged with two counts of murder following an investigation by homicide detectives from the Serious Crime Command.

A police spokeswoman confirmed Mustafa is the son of the two victims, who were husband and wife.

The force described the case as a "domestic incident" on Twitter.

Arezo is due to appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Monday.
