Man 'disembowelled' and another killed on his birthday in London double stabbing
Police launch murder investigation after latest outbreak of violence in the capital
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death and another left with serious injuries in north-east London.
The 23-year-old, known locally as Moses, was killed in Manford Way, Hainault, in the latest fatal attack in the capital.
A 22-year-old was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition after being "disembowelled" in the incident at 10.20pm on Friday.
Scotland Yard said no arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
An eyewitness who wished to stay anonymous said the attack left Moses covered in blood and the other man “disembowelled”.
“It was madness, I heard some shouting and I came outside to see what happened,” they said.
“The one boy wasn’t moving and another was holding his stomach, it was hanging out of him where he was cut.”
A friend of Moses’ mother who wished to stay anonymous said that he was “a good family man”.
“He was a mummy’s boy - he loved her so much,” she said.
“It was his birthday yesterday, he had just turned 23.
“Moses was a kind man and he was very close to his family.
“Everybody is grieving for him, it is too much for his poor mum."
Meanwhile, in a separate incident less than an hour earlier, a man was shot by two assailants on a moped in Hackney.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Amhurst Road, at 9.30pm on Friday. The victim, thought to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
The incidents come amid heightened concern about rising levels of violent crime in what has been called “lawless London”.
The total the number of killings in the capital topped 100 last month.
