Leyton shooting: Murder investigation launched after man shot dead in east London
The man in his 20s died early on Saturday morning after paramedics had battled to save his life
Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called around 3.15am to reports of shots and a collision near the junction of Melbourne Road and Capworth Street, in Leyton, east London.
They arrived and found a man, in his 20s, had been shot.
Paramedics battled to save his life, but he died at the scene a short while later.
Scotland Yard said his next of kin have been informed but officers are waiting for a formal identification.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out at Walthamstow public mortuary on Sunday.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody at an east London police station.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Packer, from the homicide and major crime command, said: "The motive for the shooting is unclear at this stage.
"I need to hear from witnesses who saw anything suspicious in Leyton early on Saturday morning, and from anyone who has information that may help the murder investigation."
