Female grime artist jailed for domestic abuse after girlfriend jumped out of window to escape her

A woman jumped out of a second-floor window while “covered in blood” to escape her violent partner, a court has heard.

The victim had been subjected to years of abuse by Coelle Holly Beaupierre, a grime artist who performs as Lady Fury.

The 33-year-old, who had been interviewed by the BBC and worked with stars including Wiley and Skepta, was jailed for 20 months on Monday.

Beaupierre, of Britannia Road in Ilford, northeast London, was also handed a restraining order to protect her victim.

She was convicted of two counts of actual bodily harm from incidents in February 2016 and February 2019, which were part of a “campaign of violence” against her partner.

Croydon Crown Court heard that the victim, a 31-year-old woman, had never gone to the police out of fear of what Beaupierre would do.

Beaupierre launched her attack in February at the woman’s home in Mitcham, southwest London, beating the woman while accusing her of having another person in the property.

The Metropolitan Police said the victim “suffered prolonged assaults over a period of time”, being left with bruises, cuts and a footprint on her leg where Beaupierre had stamped on her.

“The victim escaped by jumping from a second floor window and ran to a nearby pub for help,” a spokesperson said.

“The landlord of the pub contacted the police, telling the operator that a woman covered in blood had entered the pub and needed help.”

The investigation brought other abuse to light, including an incident where Beaupierre broke the victim’s nose by kicking her in the face in February 2016.

The court was told that the woman needed an operation to re-set her nose, as well as wearing a cast for six weeks.

Beaupierre was located and arrested on 13 February but gave no comment when interviewed.

Constable Nikki Buge, who led the investigation, said: “Beaupierre is a violent offender and the convictions she has received reflect her violence.

“The victim in this case was forced to go to trial and re-live the ordeals Beaupierre put her through – however, thanks to her bravery the jury has seen through Beaupierre’s lies and attempts to evade justice and she been convicted of assault.

“Beaupierre has shown no remorse for her actions, and continuously denied the allegations against her.”

While under investigation, Beaupierre gave an interview to the BBC for International Women’s Day in March alongside other female grime artists.

She was performing as recently as September as Lady Fury, and has also appeared under her surname.

A last.fm profile said Beaupierre started releasing music as a teenager and became a youth worker aged 19.

It said she had worked with artists including JME, Wiley and Skepta and performed abroad.

On her LinkedIn profile, Beaupierre describes herself as: “Entrepreneur. Youth Activist. Presenter. Myself and all things love.”

Beaupierre was acquitted of another assault charge, sexual assault by penetration, false imprisonment, and coercive and controlling behaviour.
