Radcliffe man charged with murder of one-year-old baby girl
Officers responded to reports of injured child in Radcliffe on Wednesday
A man has been charged with the murder of a one-year-old baby girl.
James Chadwick, 21, of Cross Lane, Radcliffe, had been arrested along with Chelsea Crilly, 19, from Warwick Road, Atherton, both in Greater Manchester.
Mr Chadwick has now been charged with the murder of the girl and Ms Crilly is accused of causing or allowing the death or serious harm of a child.
Police have not said if they are the parents of the dead child. Officers were first called at around 2.25pm on Wednesday to reports that a one-year-old girl was injured at a property on Cross Lane.
Emergency services attended and the girl was taken to hospital, where she died despite best efforts of specialist doctors.
Superintendent Chris Bridge of Greater Manchester Police said: “This is a truly devastating incident that has led to a one-year-old girl losing her life.”
Both accused will appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court, later today.
