Glitter gives up sex offender appeal

Paedophile Gary Glitter has abandoned his legal battle against being forced to sign the sex offenders register, court staff said today.

The former 1970s glam rock star signed the register on his return from Vietnam, where he served nearly three years in prison for molesting two young girls.

He was due to appear in court next month to challenge the order but his solicitor withdrew the appeal in a letter to the court, a spokesman for Harrow Crown Court said.
