Police were last night investigating reports that the woman raped by the Sheffield United footballer Ched Evans had been named and abused on Twitter.
The charity coalition End Violence Against Women complained about the comments to North Wales Police, saying they were "profoundly disturbing" as victims of sex crimes have the legal right to lifetime anonymity.
Evans, 23, was jailed for five years on Friday after being found guilty of raping the woman who was "too drunk to consent".
