A teenage boy has pleaded guilty to murdering 17-year-old schoolgirl Ellie Gould.

The youth, who can now been named as Thomas Griffiths, appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday morning.

He admitted murdering Ms Gould, an A-level student at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, Wiltshire, on 3 May this year.

The Year 12 pupil, also 17, was pronounced dead from stab wounds after emergency services were called to Springfield Drive, in the town of Calne, at 3.15pm.

Judge Peter Blair QC, the Recorder of Bristol, said sentencing would take place on a later date to allow for reports on the defendant to be prepared.
