Dave Lee Travis will be charged with further count of indecent assault
Travis already faces a re-trial on one count of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault
Dave Lee Travis is to be charged with a further count of assault, London’s Southwark Crown Court heard today.
Mr Travis, 68, already faces a re-trial on one count of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault after jurors were unable to reach verdicts on two further charges and were discharged.
The jury of eight women and four men had deliberated for more than 20 hours before finding him not guilty of 12 indecent assault charges in February.
But they were not able to agree on a charge of alleged indecent assault against a woman in the early 1990s along with an alleged sexual assault on a journalist in 2008.
As he left the court today, Travis told reporters that when he last appeared before them he said the case had "been a bit of a nightmare" for him. He added: "The only thing I want to say on this is, the nightmare is continuing".
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed it had authorised police to charge Mr Travis with the extra offence.
