DAC Brian Paddick

In an article on 13 June we stated that DAC Paddick had been demoted amid accusations that he leaked damaging information about Sir Ian Blair to the press. In fact Mr Paddick, who vehemently denied the accusations, still holds the rank of Deputy Assistant Commissioner. We accept that the Metropolitan Police Service abandoned its investigation into the source of the recent leak, and that the Metropolitan Police Authority, which has sole responsibility for misconduct issues relating to senior officers, concluded that no conduct by Mr Paddick warranted a misconduct investigation.
