A man arrested on suspicion of murdering university chef Claudia Lawrence has been released without charge, police have said.
The 60-year-old - named locally as former lab technician Michael Snelling - was arrested on 13 May on suspicion of killing the missing university chef, who has not been seen since March 2009.
North Yorkshire Police said today that he had been released from his bail.
A 46-year-old arrested on 23 July on suspicion of perverting the course of justice remains on police bail.
A spokesman for the investigation said: “This remains a live investigation with new lines of enquiry being actively pursued.
“It is therefore extremely important that the media and the public do not publish or broadcast anything on traditional media platforms or on social and digital sites that could compromise the investigation or the legal rights of those connected to, or involved in, the case.”
Ms Lawrence was last seen on 18 March 2009. She was reported missing after she failed to turn up to her job at York University the following day.
The past year has seen a major forensic review of the case and an appeal on BBC's Crimewatch in March, to mark the fifth anniversary of the 35-year-old going missing.
