Chelsea captain John Terry's father denies 'racist' incident charges

The father of Chelsea captain and former England defender John Terry today denied headbutting a man and shouting racist abuse during an alleged street attack.

Ted Terry was arrested earlier this year following an incident on Fenchurch Street in London's Square Mile.

He is accused of shouting racist abuse after clashing with Amarjit Talafair on March 22.

The 59-year-old pleaded not guilty to charges of racially aggravated common assault and a racially aggravated public order offence at the Old Bailey today.

Two other men, Tudor Musteata, 47, and Stephen Niland, 36, were also charged following the incident on March 22.

Mr Terry’s son John was found not guilty of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers’ defender Anton Ferdinand last year following a trial.
