Armed police swarm Devon village 'as man has throat slashed'
Victim is 'fighting for his life' after being airlifted to hospital
A man "has had his throat slashed" and a woman has suffered a leg injury in a village in Devon, police have said.
Armed police have swarmed to Braunton, north Devon, following an incident which has the man "fighting for his life".
Police were called to reports of a domestic incident and both an air ambulance and police helicopter were in attendance.
The man, who is in his 40s, was airlifted to hospital, while the woman was left with paramedics after suffering a non-life threatening leg injury.
A local businessman told The Independent that the female victim had been shot in the leg with a crossbow, while the man had his throat slashed.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 3.10pm to reports of a domestic incident in Dyers Close in Braunton.
"Ambulance are at the scene to assist with a woman who has a leg injury and a man who has a throat laceration.
"Officers are currently at the scene and enquiries are underway."
Police remain at the scene, and cordons are in place in the area.
