Bomb team carry out controlled explosions after terror arrests

More than 100 homes in Cheltenham were evacuated yesterday as bomb disposal experts carried out four controlled explosions on a garage block after two men were arrested on terror charges.

The alarm was raised on Friday following the discovery of suspected explosives in a garage during raids on two properties in the town.

A 52-year-old man was arrested under the Explosive Substances Act. A 31-year-old man was also arrested.
