A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in Birmingham.

The 20-year-old victim was shot in Goosemoor Lane, Erdington, at about 7.30pm on Thursday.

Police said the man’s family had been informed.

West Midlands Police said in a statement: “No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.

“Reassurance patrols have been stepped up in the area to support and reassure the community.

“Goosemoor Lane remains closed whilst investigations are underway.”
