Birmingham shooting: Man arrested after 18-year-old gunned down in street
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 18-year-old was shot dead in a city street.
Police were called to St Mark's Crescent in the Ladywood area of Birmingham at around 6.45pm on Thursday and discovered the teenager with a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and detectives have launched a murder investigation.
One woman who livs on the street told the Birmingham Mail: "Of course it’s a huge shock to come home and see a police tent like that in the middle of the street.
"I cannot believe that somebody can be murdered lie that so close to my home. I just plan to stay indoors for the time being, or I may even go to stay with family. It’s very frightening.
The road has been cordoned off and forensics teams are searching the area for evidence.
The victim's family is being supported by specially trained officers, West Midlands Police said.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact West Midlands Police on the 101 number or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
