Birmingham shooting: Murder hunt launched after 26-year-old man killed
West Midlands Police appeal for witnesses following killing on Friday evening
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in Birmingham, police say.
The 26-year-old victim, who has not yet been named, was killed in the city’s Bagshaw Road, in the Stechford area, just before 8pm on Friday night.
Officers with West Midlands Police have secured the scene to preserve evidence and are now speaking to possible witnesses while also examining CCTV, the force said.
It urged anyone with information about the events leading up to the slaying to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Griffiths said: “The man’s family are devastated.”
In a statement, he added: “We have spoken to a number of witnesses to try and get a clear understanding of the events leading up to this incident. I would encourage anyone with information or dash cam footage who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.
“We need the help of the community to come forward with information so that we can find the person or people responsible.”
He asked people call 101 or message detectives via the live chat on the force’s website, quoting log 3897 from 28 August.
