Becky Watts murder trial: Images of suitcase used to store teenager's dismembered body parts released

The teenager was killed early last year

Police have released photographs of the suitcase used to store the bodyparts of teenager Becky Watt’s, after her stepbrother dismembered her with a circular saw.

The 16-year-old went missing in February of this year.

Her stepbrother Nathan Matthews, 28, and his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, 21, have been accused killing Ms Watts after a sexually-motivated kidnap plot prompted by their interest in petite teenage girls, Bristol Crown Court has heard.

Matthews, a former TA soldier from Warmley, South Gloucstershire, admitted dismbemering Ms Watts into eight parts in his bath.

As part of their investigation into Ms Watt’s death, police officers removed five suitcases from a garden shed 80 metres from the home of Mr Matthews and Ms Hoare on 2 March.

Among the luggage was a black and grey suitcase containing the teenager’s left arm, right hand and right leg.

Each body part was wrapped up in layers of Asda carrier bags and cling film, and secured with duct and parcel tapes.

Ms Watt’s torso was found inside a blue plastic storage box in the shed, wrapped up inside a Wacky Warehouse bag emblazoned with the words “It’s my Birthday.”

Near those bags was a Eurohike rucksack containing a kitchen knife, scissors, a pair of screwdrivers, masks, handcuffs, pliers, a shower curtain, and safety goggles stained with blood.

Avon and Somerset Police also released an image of a black suitcase in which a onesie, a pair of socks, a bloodstained pillow case, a green jumper and a bloodstained duvet cover were stored.

A separate image depicts the pink suitcase in which police found a circular saw, bleach bottle, limsecale remover, pan scourers, two t-shirts and a pair of jeans.

Ms Watt’s family members wept in court as jurors were shown the images of the suitcases.

The residents of the home at 9 Barton Court, Barton Hill - Karl Demetrius, 30, and his partner Jaydene Parsons, 23 - admit assisting an offender.

Donovan Demetrius - Karl's twin brother - of Marsh Lane, Bristol, and James Ireland, 23, of Richmond Villas, Avonmouth, a work colleague of Karl, deny the charge.
