A teenage boy is in hospital after being stabbed by four men in Manchester.

Police were called to an Asda supermarket car park on Stanley Grove, Longsight, shortly after 7pm on Saturday evening.

The victim, a 13-year-old boy, was attended to and taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

Four men, all armed with large bladed weapons, were seen to approach the boy before attacking him and fleeing towards Stanley Grove.

All four men are described as wearing dark tracksuits with hoods.

Police say one wore a black gilet over an adidas tracksuit with a Gucci bag across his body. He was wearing a black face covering with a black and white patterned bandana on his head.

No arrests have currently been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Daniel Hadfield of Greater Manchester Police said: “This incident was nothing short of shocking. A 13-year-old boy has suffered some very serious injuries at the hands of four men, and we’re doing everything we can to trace those responsible.

“I understand incidents like this cause concern within the community but I want to stress that we have a team of detectives carrying out several lines of enquiry, including area searches and CCTV analysis. A cordon remains in place today while enquiries are carried out at the scene.
