Arrest after little girl, 2, found alone

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a two-and-half-year-old girl was found abandoned outside a house in Carlisle, Cumbria.

Police had earlier issued an appeal in an attempt to find the mother after the girl was found in a pram at around 11pm on Thursday.

A spokeswoman for Cumbria Constabulary said: "Police have located the mother of the little girl. A 41-year-old woman from Carlisle has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

"The little girl is safe and well and is being looked after by the appropriate authorities."
