Armed robbers threaten courier with handgun in ‘terrifying’ raid
‘Despite the psychological impact of crimes like this, he is recovering well,’ police say
A pair of armed robbers held up a bank courier with a handgun in a "terrifying" raid, police said.
As they threatened the cash-in-transit worker, they fired a gun into the air outside a Barclays branch in Salford, Greater Manchester Police said.
They escaped with just an empty cash box.
The courier was not hurt in the robbery, which took place in Cadishead on Monday afternoon.
“This was a terrifying ordeal to live through," sergeant Karl Dalton. “Thanks in part to his remarkably calm-handling of the situation, [the courier] was left unharmed and despite the psychological impact of crimes like this, he is recovering well.
“The footage we have released is very clear. While the men have their faces covered, we’re confident that someone may recognise them. The car they left in is also quite distinctive.
“Even the smallest piece of information can often be enough to help officers solve crimes like this. If you know something that can assist us, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
The robbers escaped in a purple Volkswagen Golf, which was later found burned out.
